General Guidelines
Water Temperature Control: For standard T-shirts, the water temperature should not exceed 45°C; for pure cotton, it is recommended not to exceed 40°C to prevent the fabric from shrinking or hardening.
Detergent Selection: Prioritize neutral laundry detergents; avoid highly alkaline powders or bleach to prevent fabric yellowing or the peeling of printed designs.
Sorting by Color: Wash dark, light-colored, and white T-shirts separately. Before washing a new dark T-shirt for the first time, soak it for 10 minutes in warm water (approx. 40°C) with a little salt to minimize future color fading.
Avoid Rough Handling: Do not scrub vigorously or use stiff brushes on the fabric. After washing, do not wring or twist hard; instead, gently squeeze out excess water by hand.
Specific Guidelines for Different Fabrics
Pure Cotton T-shirts: Do not wash lightweight cotton T-shirts with heavy, thick, or zippered garments to avoid snagging the fabric. When machine washing, use the gentle cycle and limit the spin-dry time to one minute to prevent the ribbed collar from losing its shape.
Elastic T-shirts: Do not use bleach, as it can damage the fabric's elasticity. Avoid high-temperature ironing, which can damage the elastic fibers and cause a loss of stretch.
Viscose/Synthetic T-shirts: Do not soak viscose fabrics for extended periods; wash them promptly. Gently rub to clean and avoid pilling or tearing. For polyester or other synthetic T-shirts, avoid high-temperature tumble drying to prevent wrinkling.
Wool T-shirts: Keep the water temperature below 40°C and use a neutral detergent. Do not scrub against a washboard, as this can cause the wool to felt, shrink, or lose its shape.
